Abstract:

Textile wastewater contains a number of dyes which are known to be toxic and carcinogenic. In this study the results show that the Fenton (Fe2+/H2O2) process is an efficient method for the removal of Acid Brown 14 (A.BR14) and Cationic Blue 41 (C.B41) dyes from textile wastewater. In this method, two reagents Fe2+and H2O2 are used and do not require any additional energy. Several experiments showed that the pH level was an important parameter for this method. Fe2+ concentration was also an important factor in the experiment. The UV- Visible spectrophotometer analysis was used for verifying the results. Some of the important parameters were as follows. Initial dye concentration range: 50-500 mg/L, initial volume range: 50-500mL, initial pH: 3-5, concentration of Fe2+ as a catalyst: 4-18 mg/L, dose of H2O2 as an oxidant: 1.13, 2.26, 3.39g/L, and limitation time: 3-18 minutes. An efficiency of greater than 99% was observed for both dyes.

Decolorization of Cationic and Anionic Textile Blue Dyes from Aqueous Solution with Advanced Oxidation Process Using H2O2 and Various Catalysts

In this study, we used advanced oxidation process (AOP)for the removal of a cationic and anionic blue dyes, namely Basic Blue 3 (BB3) and Acid blue 62(AB62), from aqueous solutions. Fenton reactions are mixture of H2 O2 and Fe2+. However this paper investigates the application of twelve different catalysts such as: FeCl2 , FeSO4, (NH4 )Fe(SO4 )2 , FeCl3 , Nano iron (Fe0 ), Fe(NO3 )3 , K2FeO4 , ...

Decolorization and Degradation of Basic Blue 3 and Disperse Blue 56 Dyes Using Fenton Process

In this study, oxidative discoloration of Basic blue3 (B.B3) and Disperse blue56 (D.B56) dyes in synthetic textile wastewater has been studied using Fenton (Fe2+/H2 O2 ) process. The Fenton’s technique showed satisfactory color removal efficiency. The operating parameters such as concentration of Fe2+, dose of H2 O2 , initial concentration of dye, time contact, initial volume of wastewater that...

Amino Ethyl-Functionalized SBA-15: A Promising Adsorbent for Anionic and Cationic Dyes Removal

Batch Adsorption of Acid Red 37 (AR37) and Basic Orange 2 (BO2) on amino ethyl-functionalized SBA-15 have been studied. SBA-15 was synthesized and functionalized according to the procedure in the literature. Amino ethyl-functionalized SBA-15 showed the BET surface area 520 m2/g and pore diameter 7.02 nm, based on adsorption-desorption of N2. SEM image shows lengthy fib...
